The RA Café
Café at the Royal Academy of Arts. A curved green bar, Corinthian column, wall murals – within the heritage interior of one of the UK's oldest art institutions.
Royal Academy of Arts. Novikov. Saltmoore Hotel. And private homes for English-speaking families in the UK.
Discuss a projectWHAT Interiors is an interior design studio in Luton, working with Russian-speaking and English-speaking clients in Luton, London, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Most consultations take place at the client's property or online. Online interior design consultations are available across the UK.
Different layouts, different construction logic, regulations that aren't negotiated here. Contractors work to drawings, and without drawings – the result is unpredictable.
I've been working here for eight years. From a café at the Royal Academy of Arts to private homes in the Home Counties. In that time I've understood where the local process works well, and where – you need to push back.
You're buying or building a home in London or the Home Counties and want a considered interior, not a quick fit-out.
You're making a home for the long term – for your family, for yourself, not a temporary solution.
Café at the Royal Academy of Arts. A curved green bar, Corinthian column, wall murals – within the heritage interior of one of the UK's oldest art institutions.
Asian fine dining. Dark wood, marble, open kitchen with fire. An atmosphere built from materials and light – not décor.
Matte-black Smeg kitchen against Calacatta marble. Restraint and luxury in precise balance. International jury – Italy, Portugal, Ukraine, Brazil.
We meet at the property or online. We talk about the brief, how you live, budget and timescales. Drawing things up comes later.
Floor plan, materials, visualisations. We fix the direction before detailed work begins – to avoid reworking later.
A full package of drawings and specifications. What a British contractor works from without questions.
On-site monitoring, resolving issues as they arise. Building regulations, communicating with contractors – that's my part of the job, not yours.
Started in Moldova – the first project made the cover of a trade magazine, the second received a national award for furniture design. Eight years ago I moved to the United Kingdom.
Since then – Royal Academy of Arts, Novikov, Saltmoore Hotel, offices and private homes. Different briefs, different budgets, one approach to execution.
Read moreWe have been working together for many years, and the experience has been consistently positive. Together we have delivered many projects – including some truly outstanding ones.
I particularly value Iuri's attention to detail and the thoughtfulness with which he develops a concept – from the first idea through to the final result.
We were planning to do the renovation ourselves and spent a whole month arguing about the interior design – until we realised we needed a professional who could take both our wishes into account. We initially thought of asking Iuri for help only with the tricky parts: "just a little guidance here…" But as the work progressed, so many hidden nuances and potential pitfalls emerged that we ultimately decided to commission a full design project for the entire house.
Iuri is a true professional. His attention to detail is remarkable – he thinks of things we hadn't even considered. Working with him is a genuine pleasure: always available, listens attentively and truly takes the client's wishes on board. We are very glad we came to Iuri, incredibly happy with how things are turning out, and can't wait for the renovation to be finished!
Tell me about your project – what you're buying or already have, what condition it's in, what your timescales are. I'll respond within a working day.
